It occurred to me recently that this site, in the way I have been using it, has been more or less a waste of web space. My original intent for this site was to be a hub for the other sites in the n-ology.net family (theology, technology, music). The problem is, while those sites share the n-ology.net “brand” as it were, they are run as separate, autonomous sites.
That being the case, what is there, really, for this site to do? Only on very rare occasions does something significant to the n-ology.net domain occur that justifies posting something here. So, essentially this site ends up just being a place to link to the other sites which you can link directly to anyway, so what’s the point?

Ok. I’m a little bit “tardy to the party” with this one. It just recently occurred to me that I had not made any mention of the new blog up at http://musicology.n-ology.net. The title of the blog is “All Things Music” and will feature articles regarding instrumentation, practice methods and tips, music theory, recording and pretty much anything else…hence the title “All Things Music.”
Currently, I’m talking with various people who may be interested in contributing content as I cannot possibly be an expert on everything (and, in fact, am not really an “expert” on anything). Hopefully, once I can get more contributors, more content can be posted there more regularly.
Until then, thanks for stopping by!

Ok, I did it. I went and jumped on the bandwagon and created a toolbar for the Tech-n-ology site. It’s still in the early phase, so there will probably be some regular updates as time goes on, but it available now. Try it out. Leave feedback on the blog. Let me know what you think, what you like, what things are useless or what useful things are missing.

Over the last week or so, I’ve gotten back into the groove. Several new posts have gone up on the Theology blog and I’ve just started a series on the Technology blog and am planning to post a new article on a weekly basis there (at least until that topic is finished).
Also, I’ve added the ShareThis function and the Send as PDF function to the Technology blog just like we had on the Theology blog. And I’m going to work on finishing up the Music-ology blog. The layout is done and the Welcome message is up, but the next thing that has to happen is…well…content. Can’t have a blog without posts.

The technology blog has been updated with a new look and feel. It’s a bit less busy and easier to look at and follow now.
Also, just as a heads-up, I’ll be posting more updates in the near future related to ITIL foundations as they apply in an enterprise environment as my employer is currently moving forward with an initiative to implement this framework in our I.T. area.

As the process of continual improvement continues, I’ve added a couple of neat new features (I think they’re neat, anyway) to the theology blog. Some of these features will be added to other areas of the site as well.
These features include:
- The ability to e-mail an individual post to a specified e-mail address in .pdf format. You can find the plugin over here.
- A ShareThis box so that if you like a particular post, you can share it with your friends on most of the various social networking sites.
- A new widget with the “Theology Word of the Day” so you can learn more about various and obscure theological terms and sound wicked smart in conversations with your friends. To get the code for the widget just visit the Heart, Soul, Mind & Strength blog and there is a link on the widget itself to get the code.
That’s it for now. Until next time…

Currently, the technology site is set up as DIY Tech Support. The original idea for this was pretty much what it’s name implies. My goal was to target home users who perhaps were not very tech-savvy and help them to solve problems on their PC’s at home.
After much thinking, I’ve concluded that such a narrow focus makes it more difficult to think of content and topics to post on the site. So, not I’m trying to come up with a new name with a somewhat broader theme. This way, I can still post things to help the home user, but I’d like to also incorporate articles for different things, like SEO or enterprise support issues, desktop managenet concepts, ITIL or whatever else would fall under the technology umbrella.

Just wanted to put out a quick update on where things are.
Currently, the theology blog is up and running and all is well. I’m liking the format and it looks like existing subscribers to the old blog have not seen any interruption in getting posts delivered. I’d still love to hear some more feedback and comments there, of course. So if you’re into theology, stop by there, read some of the posts and leave a comment.

As if we weren’t already racing along making updates and tweaks at break-neck speeds, now we’ve got Google Analytics running on all of the n-ology.net sites. The fun part of this is that I get to see the traffic coming to the site(s). So, that’s pretty exciting…for me, anyway.
Another interesting fact is, to be honest, apart from seeing a chart of the number of visitors to the site and roughly where they are located, I don’t have much of an idea how to use all the included data and actually do something more useful with it than satisfy my own curiosity about who’s coming, where from and how often.
Over time, perhaps I’ll become more familiar with these tools and use them to benefit someone…hopefully you! Time will tell.

As things continue to progress, there is more good news! The feedburner feeds for the technology and theology pages have been seemlessly transitioned from the old feed sources to the new ones.
What does this mean to you? Well, that depends a whole lot on whether or not you had subscribed to the old feeds. If you did, then the result for you is that you are continuing to receive said feeds without interruption. If you didn’t, then there really is no specific benefit for you except to know that you have joined an existing group of subscribers rather than a new one.
Onward and upward!
